We listened, we have delivered for you, and in fact we hope you have been ecstatic with the recent announcements on the POWER7™ products. We have worked hard to design a system that not only performs well but is easy to implement.

The new POWER7 servers run the AIX® V5.3 and AIX V6.1 operating systems, with binary compatibility for applications currently running on previous AIX versions on POWER4 or later. POWER7 systems also run the IBM i 6.1 operating system, with binary compatibility for IBM i applications on previous releases, even applications supported in S/36 and S/38 environments. In addition, POWER7 systems support Novell’s SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES 10 SP3 and SLES 11 with binary compatibility for those releases running on POWER6 systems. Further, Red Hat intends to support POWER7 systems with a future release of RHEL in the first half of 2010. This broad support for multiple operating systems at announce is one of the strongest that we have ever had.

IBM Flexes Java Muscles on Power7 Iron

"The benchmark test results are starting to trickle out on IBM's Power7 servers running the i for Business operating system. Last week, I told you about the SAP data warehousing tests that Big Blue did to compare the new Power 750s to older Power-based systems running i 6.1. This week, let's take a look at the SPECjbb2005 benchmark from the Standard Performance Evaluation Corp. The Power 750 did alright compared to its AIX and Linux brethren, best I can figure."

And while we are talking about ERP and middleware workload migration...

"The good news is, the Power 750, which is the middle of the Power7 lineup, has plenty of oomph when it comes to Java workloads."

LAS VEGAS (March 15, 2010) - Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions, a business segment of Arrow Electronics Inc. (NYSE: ARW), has been recognized by IBM as the IBM Tivoli 2010 Distinguished Value-Added Distributor (VAD) in the "Overall Contribution" category.

The annual Tivoli recognition cites top worldwide distributors that delivered "outstanding growth, value and support" to its IBM Tivoli software business partners in 2009. Arrow ECS was selected from over 100 eligible distributors as the top honoree in this category at the annual Pulse Conference hosted by IBM. The Overall Contribution category is the most prestigious recognition awarded to value-added distributors, as it is based on delivering outstanding value and support to Tivoli resellers.
